New Braunfels Custom Homes is a family owned and operated business. David Smullen has the lead role in the company and is supported by his partner, Pete Smullen Sr. Working together, they bring over 50 years experience in business, construction and engineering to the company. 

 

David started his custom home building career over fifteen years ago. He has built with some of the nation's largest home builder's and top-ranked private companies out of Houston, Austin, San Antonio and New Braunfels. He has worked as construction manager, mentor, trainer and inspector and trained in the specialty of energy efficient building as well. In this time, he has had construction oversight of over 500 Homes. Through the years he realized he would love to someday own his own company. He enjoyed working with customers to create their dream homes so much and knew he could do a superior job.  In January 2015, that dream became a reality with the opening of NBCH.

David is a graduate from the University of Houston. He and his wife Julie share nine children together, ranging from two young adult kids to the two littlest at one and two years old!  They love spending time outdoors together and can often be found hiking at a state park or camping. The husband and wife team share in the passion for the family business. They love to work together on business projects from designing floor plans to picking out paint colors, countertops, and flooring. The Smullens also love being involved in their church and spending time with their church family. Thanks to this strong family bond combined with their influential church life, the Smullens know the importance of faith, family and work ethic. These values and convictions are carried by the Smullen family into every customer relationship they build and every home created by New Braunfels Custom Homes.

Partner, and father, Pete Smullen Sr. is married to Joan, together they raised three boys into successful grown men. Now they are blessed to be the grandparents of fourteen. Pete is retired from Shell Oil, where he was an engineer, engineering project manager and supervisor for many years. Pete held professional engineering licenses in two states and holds an MBA in Systems Management from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio.  Having held management and control officer positions, he is a very experienced and valuable business partner, who helps oversee and run parts of the business. 

Together this family run company will work for you with the same attention and integrity they would for their own family.
